Hunter Combat Robotics: Engineering in the Arena

Welcome to the home of accessible, high-octane STEM education in the Hunter Region.

Hunter Combat Robotics is a community-driven initiative bringing the excitement of 150g Antweight combat robotics to local builders, makers, and students. Designed for engineers of all skill levels, this program transforms traditional STEM concepts into thrilling, hands-on competitive events.

The Initiative

Governed and supported by the committee body of the Hunter Innovation and Science Hub (HISH), Hunter Combat Robotics represents our core commitment to practical, engaging science and technology education. By partnering with community maker spaces like the Lake Mac Libraries Fab Lab, we provide an arena where theory meets application. HISH proudly drives this initiative, managing the organisational frameworks and grant funding required to ensure competitive robotics remains affordable and accessible to the public.

Community & STEM Impact

The arena is just the testing ground. Participants in Hunter Combat Robotics actively develop critical, real-world skills before their robots ever enter the box:
  • Hands-On Mechanical Engineering: Designing robust chassis systems capable of delivering and surviving intense kinetic energy exchanges.
  • CAD & Rapid Prototyping: Utilizing 3D printing, CAD software, and laser cutting to rapidly iterate weapon systems and defensive armor.
  • Electronics & Low-Voltage Systems: Wiring micro-controllers, brushless motors, and electronic speed controllers safely and effectively.
  • Community Collaboration: Sharing knowledge, troubleshooting complex builds, and mentoring new builders within a highly supportive, collaborative local network.

Ready to Enter the Arena?

All official tournament registrations, active event schedules, comprehensive safety rulebooks, and our active builder community are hosted directly on our dedicated combat robotics platform. Head over to huntercombatrobotics.com to check out the upcoming events and read the rules, or join the conversation and troubleshoot your builds with other makers on the Official Builder Discord.
