HISH unites organisations in the Hunter Region and beyond to collaboratively deliver world-leading events, activities and competitions engaging school students and the community with Science and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) throughout the year.
The Executive Committee is comprised of international and national award winning academics, educators and practitioners: Emeritus Professor Tim Roberts AM, Professor Peter Howley,
Peter Melling, Shelley Wilson,
Claire Chaikin-Bryan,  Ashlee Kelly, John Purcell, Shay Davies, Mr Alec Roberts

History

The first Hunter Science Festival, our premier event, was held at the Newcastle Museum in August 2014 during National Science Week www.scienceweek.net.au. The day-long event attracted and enthused audiences of all ages from the community.

The Festival expanded in 2015, with a huge number of exhibitors and stalls being displayed to showcase all aspects of STEM, attracting over 1000 people from a broad cross section of the community.

Through annual collaboration with Inspiring Australia, HISH has grown to engage over 40 HISH member organisations from across the Hunter Region and deliver free events, activities and competitions throughout the year, as well as the premier Hunter Science Festival event on the Sunday of National Science Week, attracting and inspiring thousands of Hunter Region community members and visitors.

Together we are ensuring that there are valuable and accessible STEAM activities, events and information available to the Hunter and wider communities.
